Clean air is essential for satisfactory operation of gyros and other elements in a pneumatic system, and Airborne filters provide effective barriers to contaminants. In this way, they provide an extra margin of protection against air pump overheating or unreliable system operation.
It's important to remember, however, that the more efficient the filter, the dirtier it gets and the greater the need to replace it. (Both inline and inlet Airborne filters utilize 0.3-micron filtration elements). Accordingly, the recommended course is to choose Airborne filters for their efficiency and to maintain that efficiency with a regular filter element replacement program.
